Time To Rest

Exodus 34:21 – Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

Growing up we were taught that you worked Monday – Saturday and you rested on Sunday because it was the Lord’s Day.  In this day and age, that just can’t happen anymore.  Times have changed where people’s work schedule, or life schedule, does not give them that option to rest on Sunday.  What I love about God is He said work six and rest one, to Him as long as you rest one day…He’s okay with it.

We are doing too much and are forgetting to rest.  When we don’t rest, we make mistakes.  Those mistakes may cost us our lives, our jobs, our finances and our families.  When we don’t rest, we cannot think clearly on what needs to be done and what should be done.  The body can only run for so long without a break. So, either you rest it willingly or your body will make you rest eternally. Which do you choose?

Today get some much-needed rest.  The world will still be spinning when you get up.  Time to take your health and strength back, but first you need to rest.  Whatever it is you need to do can wait until you rest.  Give your body time to recharge and renew itself.  Better to rest now and get things done right the 1st time than to keep pushing your body, messing things up and having to pay for it later.

The Academy at Corner to Corner

I’ve got exciting news!!!!!  NGM, Inc. got accepted to The Academy Spring 2024 Class of Corner to Corner!!!!  What is Corner to Corner? What is The Academy?

“The Academy is a 10-week program that equips community members with the skills they need to plan, start, and grow their own small businesses. The Academy helps neighbors create a sustainable economic engine for their families and community. In an effort to remove many of the typical barriers to entrepreneurial training, The Academy is offered in a variety of locations – all within walking distance of government housing projects. And in 2020, we also started offering virtual classes. The program is intentionally affordable. Students are only required to cover the cost of their curriculum workbook. Since inception, The Academy has graduated over 1,000 Black entrepreneurs, each in various stages of small business ownership. And 88% of our Academy community is made up of Black women.” – from their website

To know more about them, you can go to: Home – Corner to Corner

What does this mean for Next Gen?  Growth, it means growth. I prayed for help to get the word out about the ministry.  A co-worker, Sis. Pruitt, told me about The Academy (she is an Alum) and suggested I should apply.  I applied back in December and was notified February 7th that I was accepted into the program!!!!  We had our 1st class on February 27th and it was great.  Learning different things I can do and networking with others to spread the word about each other’s business.  I prayed, God answered and now it’s time to put in the work to bring this dream to reality.

I ask for your prayers during this time.  To have an on-line ministry is different from anything else but it is how I can reach more souls because just about everyone has a phone these days.  We are reaching so many young people excited to engage with topics that pertain to them, but we are just getting started.  I will keep you up to date on the progress but graduation is in May.

I prayed, God answered and I will do what I need to to bring His children closer to Him.

Stay Blessed

Can We Really Blame Lack of Prayer in Schools? – 7/31/2023

Romans 12:12 – “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;” https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Romans-12-12/

Psalms 54:2 – “Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.”

https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Psalms-54-2/

Thought For The Week:  You must remember, the answers to your prayers may not come with a bow with a note attached.

People are still quick to blame the lack of prayer in schools as the reason for all the danger our kids are in today while trying to get an education, but it has nothing to do with it.  Prayer does not start in the school…it starts at home.

I can tell you growing up, when we did have prayer in the schools, it did not stop anything.  Kids were still being bullied, fights still broke out (some with weapons), kids still got into trouble for foolishness and police were still getting called to the schools.  So, what really has changed from then until now…parenting.

I graduated from high school in 1992.  Back then, teen pregnancy was getting a good start.  The problem was it kept going.  You had babies having babies and they didn’t have time to grow up themselves yet.  Some didn’t have the guidance, during this much needed time, to nurture them on how to raise a child so they did what they could do with what they had available.

Fast forward, we have generations now that are friends “with” their kids than parents “of ” their kids.  Anything wrong with this?  No, as long as you are the parent first and you “help” them to remember that when they forget (which they do from time to time) who is the parent and who is the child, there’s nothing wrong with this way.  What happens is parents become friends and try to hang out with their children instead of leading their children and the respect for their parents starts to fade.  It never fails, parents are their friends for so long that when they try to parent, it’s too late, all respect for you is gone because you let them get away with stuff for far too long, they don’t see you as the parent anymore but a rowdy.

When it was first said about them taking prayer out of schools, my question is where was all this outrage when they took it to the courts in the first place?  All we had to do was show up, but we didn’t and look what happened?  Still prayer starts at home, but so does parenting.  If you don’t have control of your child at home, what do you think they are going to do when they go to school?  It is not the school’s job to discipline our children.  They should go to school like they got some sense, sit down, shut up and learn.  Having prayer in schools means nothing if the souls walking through the doors don’t have goodness of God in them.  Prayer is just a word, it’s the action that we need to work on with our children, the staff, the world.

We need to remember the bible is the “only” book that the same scripture will mean something different to you every day you read it. God is awesome.  He moves in us every day, now it is our turn to move back into the world and reclaim it for Him once again.  We can’t expect Him to fix this mess that we let happened…can we?
