Praying To God First Thing In The Morning

Our day starts off very busy, but if we are praying to God first thing in the morning, we are starting our day on a positive note.

Psalms 5:2 &3 – Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.  My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

PSALMS CHAPTER 5 KJV (kingjamesbibleonline.org)

In verse 2, hearken means to listen, give respectful attention.  So, these verses are asking God to listen to our cry when we are praying to Him.  He shall hear our voices in the morning and we will direct our prayers to Him and will look up. Praying to God, first thing in the morning, is a good start.

Like meditation, we need to pray (more) now than ever.  From the things that have been going on in our schools, to some of our work places, to inside our homes (even homes right next door to us), down to our choice in government leaders, we have never prayed so much like we have been this past year.

Morning time, to me, is the best time to pray.  We are praying to God asking for His guidance and protection before we walk out the door.  Why?  We don’t know what our day will be like when we walk out that door; drive in our car, while we’re at work and the drive back home again.  From what has been in the news lately, we can have an ordinary day and it get taken away from us in a heartbeat and without warning

Verse 3 says we will direct our prayer to Him and will look up. Meaning our prayers will be prayed directly to God and we will look up while we are praying to Him.  I am an eye person, meaning when I’m talking to you, I’m looking you in the eyes.  Growing up I was taught that was being respectful when you look someone in the eyes while talking, or listening, to them.

When pray to God, we are looking down at the floor or being occupied doing something else, means you are not giving Him your full attention.  You are saying that you are just too busy to stop, pray and look to hills from whence your help is coming.  Heads bowed down, and just staring at the floor, are two different things. We know how we feel when we are talking to someone and they are basically ignoring us by moving around, saying something every couple of words, like they are listening to us, when they are not.  So why do we treat God that way?

Today, pray. There is a lot to pray for I know, but there is something on your soul you need to talk to God about that you have not given your all to Him regarding it as of yet.  If you don’t do it today, when?  Like it has been said, “tomorrow is not promised”, you have healthy and innocent people leaving the land of living at hands of someone else almost every day.  What will it take for you to lay your ALL at the alter?

Go and be a blessing to someone today.  Be that light in their time of darkness, that voice that they need to hear to give them peace of mind, that shoulder they didn’t even know they needed to get them through something they thought they had no control over, that ear they need to talk things out before they do something they can’t take back. Just be a blessing to someone else today in whatever way God places it in your heart to bless them.

Have a blessed day in the Lord!!!!
